Bed Bug Extermination Services

Bed Bugs

Bed bugs are small insects (about the size of an apple seed) with oval-shaped bodies and no wings. They usually come out and bite at night. It is possible for anyone, anywhere to experience a bed bug infestation.

Bed bugs are found in cracks and crevices, including mattress seams, sheets, furniture, behind baseboards, electrical outlet plates and picture frames. They are often found in hotels, where they can travel from room to room and in visitors’ luggage or other personal belongings such as purses and briefcases.

Bed Bugs can multiply quickly, so early detection is critical to help prevent an even larger infestation.

Recognize the signs of infestation

Signs of Infestation

If you wake up with itchy areas you didn't have when you went to sleep, you may have bedbugs, particularly if you got a used bed or other used furniture around the time the bites started.

Other signs that you have bedbugs include:

  • Blood stains on your sheets or pillowcases
  • Dark or rusty spots of bedbug excrement on sheets and mattresses, bed clothes, and walls
  • Bedbug fecal spots, egg shells, or shed skins in areas where bedbugs hide
  • An offensive, musty odor from the bugs' scent glands

If you suspect an infestation, remove all bedding and check it carefully for signs of the bugs or their excrement. Remove the dust cover over the bottom of the box springs and examine the seams in the wood framing.

Peel back the fabric where it is stapled to the wood frame. Also, check the area around the bed, including inside books, telephones or radios, the edge of the carpet, and even in electrical outlets. Check your closet, because bedbugs can attach to clothing. If you are uncertain about signs of bedbugs, call an exterminator, who will know what to look for.

Cockroach Extermination

There are three common species found in homes and businesses:

  • German Cockroach
  • American Cockroach
  • Oriental Cockroach

These cockroaches are brown in color and have wings, although they prefer to run or climb, they can fly short distances.

American cockroaches, also known as the palmetto bug, tend to be found in dark, undisturbed areas that are high in humidity.

All species are usually found in greatest numbers in the kitchen or where food is stored.  If left untreated, cockroaches quickly establish themselves in high numbers and will spread to adjoining properties.

Signs of a Cockroach Problem

  • Seeing live insects - cockroaches are nocturnal and hide during the day. You will most likely see them when turning on the light in the kitchen at night.
  • Droppings - cockroaches leave a dust of black droppings less than 1mm wide and of varying lengths.
  • Egg cases and cast skins - cockroaches shed their skin 5-8 times as they mature.
  • Damage - roaches will attack organic goods including leather and books.
  • Odor - established cockroach infestations produce an unpleasant, musty smell.
